This will be a mini monthly series where I showcase the subjects I’ve encountered and photographed. Each month, I’ll share a mix of what I’ve photographed, including biodiversity, small trips, places I’ve visited, and events I’ve attended.
Think of it as a small journal of what I’m seeing through my camera.
My main interest is New Zealand’s endemic fauna and flora, with a strong focus on spiders and other invertebrates. That said, I genuinely enjoy photographing a wide range of subjects.
In 2026, I plan to broaden my focus and photograph a wider range of species, including introduced species. I also want to put more emphasis on context, such as host plants, behaviour, and species interactions, including subjects I wouldn’t normally photograph. I also want to put real effort into photographing New Zealand orb weavers on a white background. Over the last few years I’ve managed to photograph a couple of species here and there, but this year the goal is to photograph as many as possible.
