Archey’s Frog (Leiopelma archeyi) is one of New Zealand’s native frogs and is found only in the North Island. It is the smallest of New Zealand’s native frog species, growing to about 40 mm long, and is usually found in damp, endemic old growth forests. This species is nocturnal and very well camouflaged, with green and brown colouring that helps it blend into the forest floor. Like New Zealand’s other native Leiopelma frogs, it is part of an ancient frog lineage found nowhere else in the world.
