Thysanoplusia orichalcea is an adventive moth that became established in New Zealand during the 1980s. The metallic golden areas on its forewings make the adult quite distinctive. Its looper-like caterpillars feed on a wide variety of plants, including brassicas, parsley, lucerne and other garden and crop species.
