Mythimna separata

Mythimna separata is a widespread migratory moth found in New Zealand, where populations are supplemented by migrants arriving from Australia. Its caterpillars feed mainly on grasses and can occasionally occur in very large numbers, making the species an agricultural pest of pasture and cereal crops. Adults are nocturnal and readily come to light.
