Agrotis ipsilon

Agrotis ipsilon is a widespread noctuid moth found throughout New Zealand. The larvae, commonly known as greasy cutworms, feed on a wide variety of low-growing plants and grasses, often hiding in the soil during the day. Adults are nocturnal and are commonly attracted to lights. In New Zealand it is regarded as an adventive species, with additional migrants arriving from Australia.
