Macarostola miniella is an endemic New Zealand moth in the family Gracillariidae, found throughout the North Island. Its larvae are leaf miners of swamp maire (Syzygium maire). As they develop, the larvae leave the mine and roll the edge of the leaf, feeding and eventually pupating within the rolled section. Adults are particularly distinctive, with the common form having bright pink and yellow markings, although a much duller brown form also occurs.
