Dolomedes dondalei is an endemic New Zealand fishing spider found in damp, shaded habitats. It is often associated with fast flowing waters, streams, and forested waterways, where it can be found along the margins of shaded forest streams.

Like other Dolomedes spiders, it relies on movement and vibration to detect prey. This species is able to catch live fish.
