New Zealand Weevil’s
New Zealand weevils are one of the most diverse and distinctive groups of beetles in the country, with many species found nowhere else in the world. They occur in a wide range of habitats, from forests and wetlands to alpine areas and coastal environments.
Weevils are usually recognised by their elongated snout, or rostrum, which is one of the defining features of the group. In New Zealand they range from tiny, easily overlooked species to some of our largest and most striking beetles, and many are closely associated with particular host plants.
