New Zealand Beetles

New Zealand has a remarkable beetle fauna, with thousands of species recorded and many found nowhere else in the world. They occur in almost every habitat, from native forest and wetlands to coastlines, alpine areas, and freshwater environments.

Beetles vary greatly in size, shape, and lifestyle, from ground-dwelling predators and wood-borers to flower visitors, scavengers, and leaf-feeders. This diversity makes them one of the most important and varied groups of invertebrates in New Zealand.
