Waitkera waitakerensis, Uloboridae

Waitkera waitakerensis is an endemic New Zealand orb-weaving spider and the only New Zealand representative of the family Uloboridae. It is a small species, usually found in North Island forests where it builds horizontal orb webs among low understory vegetation.

Like other uloborids, this species does not have venom glands and instead relies on silk to subdue prey caught in the web.
