Tetragnathidae – Long-jawed orb weaver of New Zealand
Tetragnathidae, commonly known as the long-jawed orb-weavers, are a family of slender web-building spiders recognised by their elongated bodies, long legs, and often noticeably long jaws.
They build delicate orb webs to catch small flying insects and are often associated with vegetation in damp habitats, including stream margins, wetlands, gardens, and forest edges. In New Zealand, this family includes both endemic and more widespread species.
