Socca pustulosa

Socca pustulosa is one of New Zealand’s most commonly seen orb-weaving spiders. It is frequently found around gardens, shrubs, and man made structures, where it builds a circular web to catch flying insects.

This species is highly variable in colour and pattern, but is often recognised by its knobbled abdomen. The genus Socca was established in 2022 in a paper by Volker Framenau, Pedro de S. Castanheira, and Cor J. Vink.
