Opiliones – New Zealand Harvestmen

New Zealand is home to a diverse array of harvestmen. The largest family is Neopilionidae, characterized by long-legged species found in various environments across the country. These arachnids thrive in both natural and urban settings.

Many New Zealand harvestmen live in leaf litter, under logs, or in crevices, while others are adapted to cave ecosystems. Typically nocturnal, they emerge at night to feed on small insects and decaying plant matter.
