Celaenia excavata

Celaenia excavata is an introduced bird-dropping spider found in New Zealand and Australia. Its shape, colour, and markings help it resemble bird droppings or debris, giving it excellent camouflage when resting among vegetation.

This species is usually found on shrubs, in gardens, and around low vegetation, where it can be surprisingly difficult to spot. Females are especially distinctive and are often seen with clusters of egg sacs nearby.
