Arachnura sp
Arachnura spiders are unusual orb-weavers known for their distinctive shape and excellent camouflage. In New Zealand, they are usually found among shrubs and forest vegetation, where they can be very difficult to spot when resting in the web or against surrounding plant material.
Females are especially striking, often with elongated or tail-like abdominal shapes that help break up their outline. Like other orb-weavers, they build webs to catch flying insects, but their appearance is often what makes them stand out most.
