New Zealand has more than 30 species of centipede, although many are relatively small. Only a small number are considered large, with the largest being the giant centipede, Cormocephalus rubriceps, which can reach up to 25 cm in length.

This impressive native predator is capable of taking a wide range of prey, including large invertebrates and even small reptiles such as geckos.
